What’s W.L. all about?

Women in Localization was founded in 2008. It’s the leading professional organization for women in the localization industry with over 11,000 members registered globally and thousands of followers around the globe.

Its mission is to foster a global community for the advancement of women and the localization industry. It aims to provide an open, collaborative forum where women can share expertise and experience and help each other move forward in their careers.

Co-founder Anna N Schlegel will serve as the organization’s President for 2024. This year, Women in Localization plans to focus on rapid but very intentional growth. There will be a specific emphasis on Africa and Australia.

“It’s an exciting time for Women in Localization as our base grows every single day and our processes are solid,” said Schlegel. “We are 15 years old and have become the strongest localization engine and innovation incubator in the world, and we have no intention of stopping that.”

Summa Linguae Technologies is so proud of Madhu Sundaramurthy for this accomplishment. She’s been working as a leader in innovation management, overseeing new processes and technology to enhance translation productivity and quality.

On top of that, Madhu’s been instrumental in helping us engage more deeply in environmental sustainability efforts and help educate freelancers on the dangers of scams running rampant in the LSP industry.
